Recently I was having a casual dinner with my mother and we were talking about the brands and companies she loves. Further into the conversation she dropped a bomb on me by saying that all brands are made by one big secret company that simply puts a different name on the same product and marks it at different prices. She preached that all there is in the world is an optical illusion of brands and companies to convince us we are smart shoppers. I obviously disagreed and went to do research to prove her wrong. To my surprise, on many accounts she was right and on many she was wrong here is a list of the most surprising monopolies I found.

When it comes to buying clothes the woman is usually the one that purchases clothes for the family. Currently in this sad state of female takeover even when it comes to men’s suits women are the head honchos in the buying decision. When I am assisting men in buying a suit I would often joke and ask, “what does the boss think?” I would always get one of two responses, first a light chuckle, then either he would say she’s coming or standing right beside him and she would then give her opinion. So I decided to interview a large group of fashion students to get their opinion on what they absolutely hate seeing men wear. To avoid bias I asked women of different age and social groups.

RightLust II Mark Mcnairy x timberland collaboration

I came across these lovelies at Mr.porter.com. I have been a fan of Mark McNairy for quite sometime now. These Boots are an excellent take on the classic timberland boot, I personally favour the black suede boots with the blue collar pad as to the wolverine suede with the yellow collar pad. I feel the black would go with a lot more colour while still maintaining the “pop” that McNairy has become infamous for.

RightShoe Review – Banana Republic: Wingtip boots

Welcome to the new shoe section, I’ll be doing both shoe reviews and shoelust showing possible shoe buys you guys would like to own.

The way I like to do footwear reviews aren’t the typical way, Instead of just buying a pair of shoes, reviewing it and either keeping it or returning it. I prefer to wear the boot for a few months to get a proper feel of the shoe in all aspects.

When it comes to these wingtip boots, they are quite the shoe, the look and silhouette of the shoe were admired by all when I first purchased them. When I walked into Hugo Boss the sales associates were all inquiring to know where I got them from. Now when it comes to the durability it is a different story.Durability is one of the of the most important aspects when it comes to buying a shoe, boot or any footwear. The Shoes Retail for CAD $168.00 when it comes to the price for durability I would say the shoes Fall a little short of wear it could be. I would rank the leather 8/10 without it being properly taken care of though. With the proper treatment of cleaning and buffing and shining the leather I would rank it at a 9. Overall for the price, this is an excellent shoe.

I also realized something that not only Banana Republic does with high top boots. A great deal of companies will use the fine dress shoe laces usually worn in brogues for the boots, depending on the frequency of use this could be a problem because the laces might not be strong enough for the boot cause it to deteriorate after very frequent use.

This jacket is a classic motorcycle jacket that was immortalized by Marlon Brando in the 1953 movie ” The Wild One”. Recently this has been worn by celebrities from the likes of

and Pharell
